Sean M. Burke

Hi and stuff!  I am Sean, a high-speed amalgam of meat and skin!  My superpowers include programming, sleeping, and not answering the telephone.  I live in Ketchikan, Alaska, where I am surrounded by modern forest and primaeval city.

I write programs -- some modules, some utilities, some RSS generators (site-summarizers), some webby things, and some dynamic web sites.

I've also written some books and articles, including:

1. Perl & LWP  (or to buy the touchable feelable paper edition:  Powell's · Amazon · isbn.nu)
2. RTF Pocket Guide
3. About a dozen articles for The Perl Journal, which are mostly collected in Best of The Perl Journal: Games, Diversions & Perl Culture.
4. My master's thesis, The Design of Online Lexicons, which also appears, abridged, as a chapter in A Practical Guide to Lexicography.
5. Higher-Order JavaScript, still in progress.

I've also been a programmer and/or consultant on a bunch of different Native North American dictionary projects.  And I've been a tech-editor and/or consulting editor on about a dozen technical books.  I have been occasionally sighted at tech conferences, giving talks about this, that, and the other.

And now and then I also take pictures.
